To all the women in the world, I think this is a very important message. We are all incredibly beautiful and perfect, exactly as we are! Let’s stop believing what the media is trying to tell us and let’s show our pure, real, beauty with pride. For years I have been struggling with my weight and the way I looked. I was under eating, over eating and could not truly enjoy eating something delicious, because it made me feel guilty and ugly. I spent hours thinking about what I ate, and how to avoid situations with food. No matter how skinny I was, I always felt I had to cover my body. Also I felt ashamed and I tried to hide how I was treating myself. I believed what the magazines told me; that I have to be different.
To see what message the magazines are spreading nowadays, I just checked the website of Cosmopolitan. Well, here are the first three things I read: “how to get a bikini body in 10 days”, “3 easy ways for a flat and muscled belly” and “5 steps for the perfect hair”. This is exactly why another sound is so important! The real truth is: you are perfect as you are! And all the things that you can call imperfections, you can also see as exactly the things that make you special. It really doesn’t matter how you look, your uniqueness makes you beautiful! To show your own true beauty is what is really beautiful. Real beauty comes from the inside; it is the loving attitude towards yourself and others.
Touch your own body with love and care and whisper some sweet words, it needs you. Maybe you haven’t always treated it nicely or said hard things about some body parts. You can tell these parts ‘I am sorry for hurting you’, ‘I am sorry for not seeing how beautiful you are ’, ‘you are a part of me, I love you’.
The more we will show our true beauty, the less believable will these magazines become! Even though I am writing this, there are moments in which I feel insecure and want to be or look different. Let’s support each other, encourage each other and tell each other how beautiful we are, exactly as we are! I am not against make-up, I am not against paying attention to the way you look. Actually, I think it’s important to take care of yourself, you are worth it. But let’s stop believing we all have to look like supermodels. Let’s stop with this strange idea that there is just one beauty ideal. We are all different, we are all unique, and that’s what makes us beautiful! Let’s show it!
